Making Fitness a Lifestyle: Interview With Krishna Shroff

Krishna Shroff is a star athlete, diva, and hardcore fitness enthusiast with a burning desire to upskill her mixed martial art prowess. While she continues to satiate her hunger for MMA practice everyday, she strives to maintain a toned body, shaking the fitness and film industry off the ground.

Hailing from the renowned Shroff family in the Indian media and entertainment industry, Krishna speaks about her father, mother, and brother and their contribution to prioritising fitness in the household. Additionally, she reveals a few workout secrets along with her core principles when it comes to exercising and nutrition.

This blog is based on MMA Matrix’s founder, Krishna Shroff, and her interview with the editor-in-chief of Hashtag Magazine, Sinduri Vuppala.

“Health is wealth. Without it, absolutely nothing in this world matters. No money, no fame, nothing!” – Krishna Shroff

The Secret to Krishna’s Vibrant Personality

Krishna profoundly believes that the secret to her family’s lively personalities stems from the fact that they are happy from within.

Ayesha Shroff runs her entrepreneurial ventures day-in-day-out. Jackie Shroff mindfully indulges in his farming hobby and showers his family with on-field knowledge of nutrition. At the same time, Tiger Shroff’s lifestyle revolves around everything fitness. To top it up, Krishna too is chasing her truest passion of all-rounding fitness!

When a family shifts their energies to their respective temples of happiness, their outward personality radiates this satisfaction in the form of a lustrous glow.

Speaking of Krishna, her temple is the gym. Every morning, she takes her mind and body on a 90 to 120 minute ride in the gym. An amalgamation of cardio, strength, and conditioning instils a sense of complete balance and sustains her positivity through the day.

When it comes to brotherly inspiration, she says, “It hasn’t been easy keeping up, but I love a good challenge.”

Despite her knack to embrace challenges on a daily basis, Krishna doesn’t face slacking episodes. With utter respect, she dedicates this trait to the competitiveness that runs in the family. Moreover, she openly accepts that all family members want to stay on par with each other’s consistently enhanced physique.

How Does Krishna Manage Her Nutrition?

To state this crisply, she incorporates all her cravings into her diet. However absurd this may sound, let’s not forget, she understands the precise meaning of portion control. This obedience in her eating habits, combined with her philosophy of cherishing rest and recovery, is what invigorates her.

After religiously following a diet and sleep-wake cycle for years, she has now made it a lifestyle. Her exposure to this kind of healthy living now resonates even within her digestive system. She has established the authentic feeling of goodness when she eats clean, healthy, farm-fresh food.

Most importantly, Krishna praises her father’s everlasting bond with farming. Though she hasn’t picked up the specifics of farming activities from Jackie, Krishna has developed a holistic perception of nutrition. This includes the when, how, and what to eat as well.

Praising her father, Krishna says, “It’s become so vital to know where your food comes from and the fact that we do is such a blessing.”

When asked of the three imperative points that have influenced any universally accepted weight loss routine, she says to understand that:

  1. Nutrition is key since your fitness is defined by 70% nutrition and 30% fitness
  2. Controlling how much you eat
  3. Acquiring enough sleep and recovery time after your training

Krishna was also asked how women should adapt their workouts to their age. She smashed open a popular myth while answering this. Apart from the art of staying true to the regularity of a fitness routine, she shed light on her 61-year-old mother, Ayesha Shroff. And no arguments there! Undeterred by her budding age, Ayesha still looks fit as a fiddle.

Krishna added, “Women are as capable in their 20s as they would be in their 50s.”

Krishna’s Daily Diet

She despises fad diets to the extent of calling them “bullshit”. On the contrary, she trusts in nutritional success through the concept of sustainability. More than having a fixed diet, she leaves her food palette open to modification as per what she desires. This eliminates the whole stay-away-from-these-foods philosophy and allows her to treat her taste buds as they wish.

The point being, she preaches the habit of giving your stomach both its wants and needs. The one rule to remember is to eat within your limits, that’s all.

She makes a wise remark on Tiger, “Unless you’re getting paid what Tiger Shroff is to look the way he does 365 day a year… I’d do it, no problem. Life I said, sustainability is key.”

Krishna’s Take on the Most Effective Tried and Tested Workouts

She acknowledges deadlifts to be the most effective exercise since it works a broad range of muscles. Over that, she recommends all fitness freaks to identify what workout suits their body best.

While ending the interview, Krishna said, “Fitness is a game of trial and error, so keep at it until you find the perfect one for yourself.”
